RIVER SAFETY

Any day on the river should include safety gear and a simple plan. Accidents happen unexpectedly. Preparation keeps panic at bay and problems manageable.

Before You Go:

  • Know your put-in and take-out
  • Have a realistic time plan
  • Carry a map of your route
  • Bring your cell phone with river maps downloaded
  • Tell someone your plan and check in afterward

Always Pack:

  • A proper first aid kit
  • Repair materials for your craft
  • Extra dry clothing
  • 20–30 liter dry bag
  • Headlamp
  • Matches and fire starter
  • Food and water or filtration

The river is the boss.

With careful planning and proper gear, the most important safety item is still a cool head. Experience teaches respect.
